John R. Cobb, Author
Greetings,
My author name is John R. Cobb, and I’m a proud Mainer and an aspiring writer. My family and I spend much time exploring the woods and waters of Maine via all manner of transport, including ATV, bike, boat, canoe, foot, truck, snowmobile, etc. Also, for many years, Heidi, Johnny, and I have volunteered as trail tenders for The Holbrook Island Sanctuary.
Though I’m a bit of a curmudgeon, likely in the final third of my life, I’m known to crack wise, usually at my own expense, and so far, my long-suffering wife has tolerated my glass-half-empty outlook on life. And, don’t get me started on politics. I’ll keep my opinionated ideologies to myself, but I don’t care for incivility and vitriol from supposed leaders—regardless of political leanings. If you cannot express your position with a few facts and gentle disposition, you’ve lost the debate. For myself, I’ve never been registered with either party. However, my writings may offer hints of my slightly left-of-center leanings, so take that as you will.
So far, my writing success has been very modest, but thankfully, more readers seem to like my stories than not, and I have a small readership demonstrated by ratings and reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. At the outset of my writing endeavors, I was quite enthusiastic getting my work out there for readers to discover, but in little time, I became somewhat discouraged with meager sales and occasional snarky reviews. With some consolation, it seems many hopeful authors also suffer the same conundrum, so now, I continue to write for myself and maintain a steady output.
Presently, I have a full-length manuscript tentatively titled, “Birdmen", and a growing number of short stories for a follow-up anthology titled, “Tales of the Cemetery Trees II”. In the meantime, my wife will overhaul my website—www.johnrcobb.com—and I’ll expand my online presence through Apple, Barnes & Nobel, and other online markets.
I love hearing from readers, so feel free to email me at john@johnrcobb.com.
Regards, John
